Selective Breeding Evidences

Darwin believed that there was genetic variation in populations that would be sufficient to account for changes over vast time periods. That has been verified in domestic animal populations. In only 10,000 years, man has selected all the exotic breeds of dogs from genes that used to be in wolves. Scientists now are finding that 10,000-100,000,000 times the genetic variation needed to account for the changes seen in the fossil record exists in populations of vertebrates (Reznick et. al., 1997).
